Haven is an inclusive ministry for LGBTQ+ & Questioning college students & young adults to rest, restore, belong and become.
❋ Safe Space
This group will provide a safe space for exploration of identities, both LGBTQ+ and Christian.
It will be a place for those who experience same sex attraction, gender dysphoria, or any LGBTQ+ identity to just breathe and be themselves.
Safety comes from trust, and trust is built. Participants are not required to “come out,” and shouldn’t be pressured to share anything they’re not ready to share.
❋ Affiliation
Haven primarily serves college students, but is not affiliated with a university. It has a loose affiliation with Haven LGBTQ Ministry, a ministry of Safe Harbor OC church.
❋ Acceptance without Judgment
The goal is to meet people’s needs, not to tell them what they can or can’t do. Both “Side A” and “Side B” people are welcome.
Members support each other where they are at rather than pressuring them to conform to any particular lifestyle or to change their minds.
We’re here for you, and we’re here for each other.
❋ Your Facilitators
Haven’s facilitators include Amanda Pence and other highly trained and experienced facilitators and spiritual directors who are intimately acquainted with the needs of college students in La Mirada.

Would you like to join Haven, a support group for LGBTQ+ or Questioning college students and young adults based in La Mirada, California? Fill out our interest form and we’ll get back to you. Due to the sensitive nature of this group, all potential members will be vetted with an in-person meeting or video call before being invited to the group. Please note that this group is for folks ages 18+.
